This Privacy Policy explains how Socialette Inc. ("Socialette") collects, uses, stores, and protects the personal information of people who visit the Socialette website, join the waitlist, create an account, or attend Socialette events. Socialette is committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable Canadian privacy laws.
By using the Socialette website or platform, the individual acknowledges and agrees to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information Socialette Collects
Socialette may collect the following categories of personal information:
- Identity information, such as name, date of birth, and pronouns
- Contact information, such as email address, phone number, and city
- Account information, such as username, password, and profile preferences
- Profile information voluntarily provided, such as interests, photos, and bio details
- Event information, such as registrations, attendance history, and event preferences
- Communications submitted through the website, email, or community channels
- Payment information processed by third-party payment providers (Socialette does not store full payment card details)
- Technical information, such as device type, browser, IP address, referring pages, and usage analytics
2. How Socialette Uses Personal Information
Personal information is used to:
- Create, operate, and maintain accounts on the Socialette platform
- Provide access to events, community features, and member services
- Communicate about events, product updates, safety notices, and other Socialette announcements
- Process event registrations and payments where applicable
- Improve the platform, content, and overall member experience
- Respond to inquiries, feedback, and support requests
- Maintain community safety, prevent abuse, and enforce the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
3. Legal Basis and Consent
Personal information is collected and used based on the consent provided when an individual joins the waitlist, creates an account, registers for an event, or otherwise interacts with Socialette. Consent may be withdrawn at any time by contacting hello@socialette.app, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
4. Sharing of Information
Socialette does not sell personal information.
Personal information may be shared with:
- Trusted service providers that support the operation of the platform, including hosting, payment processing, analytics, and email delivery, who are contractually required to protect the information
- Event partners or hosts, only where strictly necessary for event coordination, and limited to the information required for that event
- Law enforcement, regulators, or other parties where required by applicable law, court order, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Socialette members or the public
- A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to equivalent privacy protections
5. International Data Transfers
Some service providers may store or process personal information outside of Canada, including in the United States. While the information is in another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, including lawful access requests by foreign authorities. Socialette selects service providers that offer appropriate safeguards for personal information.
6. Data Retention
Personal information is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, or as required by law. Waitlist information is retained until the individual unsubscribes or requests deletion. Account and event information is retained for the duration of the account, plus a reasonable period afterward for legal, safety, and record-keeping purposes.
7. Data Security
Socialette uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
8. Cookies and Analytics
The Socialette website uses cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary for the website to function. If analytics, advertising, or other non-essential tracking technologies are added in the future, a cookie notice and consent options will be provided in accordance with applicable laws.
9. Marketing Communications
With consent, Socialette may send marketing emails about the launch, events, and community updates, in compliance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Each marketing email includes the sender's identity, contact information, and an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect transactional or account-related messages.
10. Children's Privacy
The Socialette platform is intended for adults. Personal information is not knowingly collected from individuals under the age of majority in their province or territory of residence. Any information believed to have been collected from a minor without proper consent will be deleted upon discovery.
11. Individual Rights
Subject to applicable law, an individual may:
- Request access to the personal information held about them
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion of personal information, where legally permitted
- Withdraw consent for specific uses of personal information
- Make a complaint about how personal information has been handled

12. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in practices, services, or legal requirements. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the Socialette website or platform after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
